Pediatric Psychologist
My name is Samantha Carreon, Ph.D. I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Psychology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. I provide clinical services to youth with chronic illnesses and their families, specializing in working with individuals with diabetes. Additionally, I am a part of the RAD Lab with Dr. Marisa Hilliard as my research mentor. My research interests include studying the psycho-social impact of living with diabetes, supporting resilience and strengths in young people with type 1 diabetes (T1D), transitioning to adult care, health disparities and health equity, and sleep in youth and young adults with T1D.
I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFUMS). I was a member of Dr. Rachel Greenley’s lab. I completed my Health Service Psychology Internship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and my post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology and the JDRF Diabetes Psychology Fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine.
